Christmas Day

Merry Christmas!!

I had planned on Emerson wearing her special Christmas p.j.'s, but (of course!) for the first time in a few months her diaper didn't hold and her p.j.'s were wet in the morning. So much for those plans!
Just like Christmas Eve, Em needed some help getting the unwrapping started. She did like climbing on her gifts.

And once opened, she waited patiently while Todd (not quite as patiently, I think next year he'll be ready ahead of time with his tools at hand) put together her walk 'n' ride.

She quickly figured out how it worked.

Then on to (literally!) the next gift -- her very own nativity set. I'm looking forward to future Christmas's and the fun we'll have every year getting out Em's nativity set.

Todd and I even got a gift from Emerson (something the care-givers at her daycare put together). Too bad, they didn't quite spell Em's name right.

It was a box with a note and big red bow. It read:

This is a very special present
That you can never see.
The reason it's so special
It's just for you from me.

When ever you are lonely
Even feeling blue, you only
Have to hold this gift
And know I think of you.

You never can unwrap it,
Please leave the ribbon tied.
Just hold the box close to your heart,
It's filled with LOVE inside.

It completely made me cry!

Then it was breakfast time, followed by nap time. Here's Em eating a snackie.

When Em woke up, we realized there was another gift we forgot about. She actually seemed to start to understand that she could take the paper off herself and was able to mostly unwrap it on her own. It was a simple bath toy, but she was the most excited about this one. She was even trying to lick the toy. When Todd took it to cut the toy out of the packaging, she followed him and anxiously waited to get her toy back. I never suspected that this one would end up as the favorite!

Later in the day, my mom and sister came over for time together and Christmas lunch. Of course, Em also got spoiled some more. She received a really nice chair that's just her size from grandma and immediately climbed into it like she knew just what to do. It was very funny to watch her with it.

Aunt Keely gave Em a learning caterpillar with lots of sounds and music. She loved it!

See Em's feet? She also got new slippers (purple with cat faces, feet and a tail) from Grandma. They didn't match her outfit at all, but looked so cute on her feet!
We definitely realize how blessed we are and are very thankful we can celebrate Christmas with one another and our family.

What a cool poem and gift from Emerson's "school"! I have never heard of that one before, and it made me tear up a bit:)
